How to Manually Summarize the Software Metering Data in SCCM 2012 R2

In case if you want to do a Manual Software Metering Summarization in ConfigMgr 2012 R2, you can use the Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager Toolkit contains fifteen downloadable tools to help you manage and troubleshoot Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager.

When we talk about software metering, Software metering reports don’t show software metering data until it has been summarized. Even if you configure the Auto summarization option in ConfigMgr settings, you have to wait till the auto sum process finish. But using the Configuration Manager Toolkit you can force it to summarize the data quickly. To do it you have to use the Runmetersumm.exe tool which is included in the Configuration Manager Toolkit.

After you install the tool Kit the tool will be available in the below location by default.

C:\Program Files (x86)\ConfigMgr 2012 Toolkit R2\ServerTools>

So the best way to run this command is using the Command prompt. Open the command prompt and run the command as shown in the below screen.

Note: Make sure to add your ConfigMgr DB name correctly. In my case my ConfigMgr DB name goes as CM_MOB.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Configmgr 2012 Toolkit R2\ServerTools>runmetersumm.exe CM_MOB

Once you run the tool it will do a quick summarization of your Software metering Data.

Once the process completed check the Software Metering Report Section and check the required reports. Smile

Below screen shows you the completion of Manual summarization process.
