Overview

Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is a service-centric model for the request and provisioning of data center resources. System Center Cloud Services Process Pack is Microsoft’s infrastructure as a service solution built on the Microsoft® System Center platform.

With the System Center Cloud Services Process Pack, enterprises can realize the benefits of infrastructure as a service while simultaneously leveraging their existing investments in the System Center 2012 – Service Manager, System Center 2012 – Orchestrator, System Center 2012 – Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), and System Center 2012 – Operations Manager platforms.

Introduction

Information technology (IT) organizations considering IaaS need to examine and adapt their existing tools, processes, workflows, and automation to meet the requirements of an effective cloud services implementation. While it is critical that the underlying features (such as Self-Service Portal, ticketing infrastructure, notifications, workflows, and automation) integrate well with each other and account for industry-wide best practices, the work involved to ensure an effective cloud services implementation can be daunting and time-consuming.

Cloud Services Process Pack Prerequisites

Step 1-

Import the VMM Discovery Management Pack into Service Manager. For your convenience, we have provided the VMM Discovery Management Pack, along with other required management packs, with the Cloud Services Process Pack download. By default, the WinZip Self-Extractor saves the management files to

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\2\Setup\ManagementPacks

For more details, see FAQ: Installing all the Prerequisite MPs for the Cloud Services Management Pack as follows:

A. There are certainly a lot of dependencies for the SCVMM 2012 Discovery MP which is found in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Virtual Machine Manager\ManagementPacks folder of the SCVMM 2012 installation. Firstly copy all of the management packs in the SCVMM 2012 Management Pack folder to your SCSM 2012 installation and place them in a folder which could be C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager. They will not all import though because there are dependencies on other management packs.

Step 2 –

The second step is to install all the Operations Manager 2007 MPs that actually ship with SCSM 2012. If you look in C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager\Operations Manager Management Packs you will notice a large number of management packs you should install. This can be done manually though the administration workspace and run the Import Management Pack action and select all the management packs from the folder (make sure you add both .xml and .mp extensions). This can also be achieved by running the included installOMMPs.ps1 PowerShell script.

There are some other dependencies that must be downloaded and installed. Download each of the following and run the install on your Service Manager 2012 server which will extract the included Management Packs to the C:\Program Files (x86)\System Center Management Packs folder.

These packs contain the required management packs, namely:

The IIS 2008 management pack actually needs Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.Discovery  which is part of Windows Server Operating System Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 at http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=9296.

Once you’ve download all these go back to Service Manager and add the management packs (.xml and .mp) that you downloaded from each of the folders under C:\Program Files (x86)\System Center Management Packs such as Internet Information Services MP, SQLServerMP and Windows Server Base OS System Center Operations Manager 2007 MP.

You will now be able to import the Microsoft.SystemCenter.VirtualMachineManager.Library MP and the all import Microsoft.SystemCenter.VirtualMachineManager.2012.Discovery.mp as shown below.

Step 3-

After you have completed the above two steps please follow the video which I have uploaded here about the rest of the steps which you need to follow to complete the installation of Cloud Service Process Pack.
